Public Access

In the show, Rayyan and Amaar co-host an Islamic television program on  Public Access TV. The episodes are disastrous to say the least. The entire production is unorganized and the more help they receive, the worst the show gets.

I’m not sure if they are Public Access, but the Islamic shows that I see on television are pretty boring. The speaker usually speaks in a monotone voice that puts you to sleep. I guess this could apply to other Public Access shows as well.

Do you have any favourite Public Access Islamic shows? How are they received in your community? How do they keep you intrigued?

Women and their hair

In this episode, Layla decides to put streaks in her hair but after her not-so-good result, she decides to wear the hijab to hide it from Baber.

Her hair actually looks good compared to other do-it-yourself jobs I’ve seen. For some reason, fathers always have a hard time dealing with changes that their daughters pursue to fit into the crowd.

What’s your opinion on women dyeing hair? If you are a father, what’s your thought pattern? What’s allowed and what’s considered haram?

Opportunity for Women

In this first episode of Season 2, Rayyan points out that perhaps she should do the Community Announcements since Baber is hurt. Amaar tells her that the idea of a woman standing up to do that would not go over well with the men.

I suppose it depends on the size of the Mosque. If it’s a small Mosque with a few members then it wouldn’t be a big deal if one of the sisters came up every week to do Announcements. But if it’s a larger Mosque, perhaps the ladies may feel uncomfortable. Also, the women in larger Mosques usually have their own sections in the Mosque where they can do their Announcements.

Does your Mosque have women coming up to do Community Announcements? What would the reaction of the masses be?
